Education Summary

I've been attending college for the last 4 years. I am currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, possibly to be followed by an additional degree in Chemistry or Computational Chemistry (if the latter degree is available at an institution I want to attend). I have already completed the necessary coursework for AS degrees in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Web Development, and Mathematics, and an AA degree in Business.

Return to my current education.

Note: unit numbers to the right aside from the total need to be updated.

Spring 2012 (Planned)

Could be my last semester at Berkeley unless I get a 5th semester. If I complete the schedule below I'll have taken two extra CS courses, so I can eliminate two somewhere (but I probably won't want to because they are all useful). During the below, need to complete EECS Core + 5 EECS upper division (including 1 Design), American Cultures, H&SS, and Ethical/Social Implications. Everything I need is on here, so just shift it around a bit to fit the available schedule and take balanced loads.

For American Cultures requirement, could take Soc 131: Race & Ethnicity in U.S. American Cultures, Hist 127AC: California, Hist 120AC: American Environmental/Cultural History, Poli Sci 167AC: Racial and Ethnic Politics in the New American Century. Other classes are available, but it varies depending on the semester.

American Cultures possibilities: Hist 124A (US History, late 19th century to WW2), Hist C139B (The American Immigrant Experience), Engineering 130AC (Cases and Conflicts in Engineering Ethics), American Studies 101AC (Examining U.S. Cultures in Time), History 127AC (California), History 124B (US History, WW2 to Vietnam)

Fall 2011 (Planned)

Software Engineering (CS 169) meets the Design Course graduation requirement. This semester is light so I can do more in the design course. If unable to take QM in the summer, take QM I here and then QM II in the spring, but rearrange classes again so the last semester is still under 20 units.

Summer 2011 (Planned)

I hope they offer Quantum Mechanics in the summer again like they did for 2010. Maybe also take my American Cultures requirement this summer? Intership or undergrad research opportunity?

Spring 2011 (Planned)

Microeconomics satisfies the Humanities & Social Sciences "Series Requirement" (Econ 1 + Econ 100A). Still need to satisfy American Cultures requirement, then I'll be done with all non-major requirements as long as the AC course is also upper division. Could take History of Economic Thought (Econ 105) instead, and would follow my pattern of reading a lot about histories of important subjects. Econ 105 looks interesting but it requires Econ 100AB or 101AB Should I take 100A or 101A? What's the difference? I should talk to an Economics department advisor. Econ 100 requires less math than 100A and seems to be more challenging, but similar in theory presentation. Probably better to take 100A to leave more time for courses in my major. However, 101A might be a better way to keep sharp on math through multivariable calculus.
